Perfect wedding photographer… Where art thou???

The wedding season is here and all of us who are getting married are becoming bundles of emotions between the feeling of elation and the amount of work that is piling up especially for the preparation. So many things to do like choosing the perfect dress, the jewelry that goes with the dress, the mehendi patterns, the artists, the parlor appointments, the Sangeet preparation, the venue, the invitations and the wedding photographer!!!!!!!

Wedding photos are keepsakes that are cherished and passed down from generations. Great wedding photos remind us of the fun and emotions of the day. Choosing the perfect photographer may be the second toughest job only after finding the right partner for life.

Team ItemMom decided to help you in your quest of finding the chosen one for your D-Day with these basic guidelines!

Choosing the Style

First thing is to decide whether you would want a classic wedding photo album, wherein exclusively posed shots of the couple with or without family over various backgrounds are used or are you willing you go the more modern way where a mishmash of photography style is applied and lots of artistic and candid shots are taken alongside the posed ones.

Starting Early

A lot goes in the process of selecting the apt photographer. So one must start when there is ample time. Good photographers are booked almost a year in advance, so giving enough time is necessary.  Choose a few photographers based on their references, reputation, recommendations or simply from the listings. Interview each of them and insist on viewing some of their previous works. Narrow down your options to a few then make a final decision.

Determine a Budget

In case you are paying for your wedding, you will personally set aside a budget for all vendors separately. To achieve the most from the contract, compare the packages provided by the few shortlisted candidates. You would need to decide what all do you want to include in your wedding album; compare packages as per your requirements.

Check the post event details

  • How soon will I get the final work?
  • Will the contact sheets be shared before the final work is made so that I can choose the end result?
  • Once everything is decided as per your liking, reiterate the details of the scope of work and sign the contract.

We did not have a professional photographer for our wedding! My cousin has a DSLR and he clicked all our pictures. They are ok I guess, but I really wish we got a professional photographer….

Even though our photographer charged a bomb, but his work was awesome.. I am especially in love with all the candid shots.
