Children and their hobbies…

Hobbies are the activities that one pick apart from their studies and work according to their interests, after growing old or in childhood. Many times hobbies stick with you for your entire life and many times you give up after growing up or shift your interest to other hobbies. Its always advisable to introduce a hobby at a very early age but according to the child interest. It keeps the child away from t.v., computers, gadgets and boredom too. Although that is also important for child development. It plays a very important role in their physical and mental development. Parents also have to keep it in mind that the hobbies are cost efficient and sometimes need to shell out money. Hobbies like stamp ,currency collection are bit expensive ones. Parents also need to give their time in initial stage along with providing the materials required. Motivation, appreciation, praise and giving positive comments to child is also very important. The following are the Hobbies and methods that can be introduced to a child.

Art and craft

Both boys and girls love to paint, draw, sketch, scribble, paste, cut, fold etc. Small canvas to paint, origami, big sheets or brown paper can be stick on walls for scribbling, sketching, drawing, pasting.

We all grew up reading and listening to the fairy tales. Reading bed time stories is the best way to open the world of books to a child.

Philately and currency collection

This is one of the expensive hobbies, it can burn a hole in your pocket. So you need to have a budget for hobbies similar to these kinds.

Gardening

Children garden tool set can be provided to the child. They will love to see the seeds growing, it will also help them in understating about the plant life.

Cooking

Non fire cooking can be introduced first, eventually moving on to fire cooking and baking in presence of any elder.

Singing and dancing

Every child loves to do it and they do it with such an innocence. Parents can experiment with different dance forms ,instruments and singing.

Hobbies help children to express and play a very important roll in their development like fine and gross motor skill, social, emotional, cognitive, intellectual, creative etc. There are many more hobbies like hiking, birdwatching, sewing, embroidery, knitting, pottery etc and list goes on, it all depends upon the child interest. Many times child keep on doing the hobbies. It becomes their profession and excel in it and brings fame. But our goal is not to have big expectations from them.
