Beat the Exhaustion. Boost Your Energy
After running behind kids the whole day, cooking for them, feeding them, making them study and finally putting them off to bed, we sometimes wonder, why they are so full of energy and yet they are the ones to get all the rest!
Having taken up the most rewarding job, which is ‘parenting’, we are bound to our duties 24/7, 24 hours a day! Taking no weekly offs nor expecting sick leaves, we soon become the over-worked, dark-circled mothers or rather, employees at our office called ‘home’.
This is the story of every mother at some point in her life. This exhaustion, tiredness isn’t what you deserve! Neglecting yourself and focusing on your kids is not what parenting is about. Eight hours of sleep is an ideal therapy to be refreshed but may not be possible in your hectic life. Thus, we bring you a few quick tips which will replenish your system and raise your energy levels instantly.
- Lack of energy, fatigue and headaches are mostly signs of dehydration. Guzzle a full bottle of water whenever you need that extra punch to get back on track.
- Lack of enthusiasm? Feeling tired? Take a quick shower or a leisurely bath with your favourite bath bar or shower gel. It will not only leave you refreshed but will boost your ‘feel good’ hormones.
- Quick breaks of 15-20 minutes can do wonders to your stress levels. If your kids are not at school or day-care, engage them in a game or a TV show they like and free yourself just for that short time. Listen to music, take a nap or just lay down in bed.
- Exercise is a great way to boost your energy levels. You may not get time for your favourite sport but can certainly make time for a brisk walk. You may walk your dog or take your baby out in the stroller. Practice a few dancing moves in the kitchen or simply do some stretches.
- A cup of coffee and diet crackers is NOT breakfast! Just as you make sure to feed your kids a healthy breakfast before they leave for school, it your duty to feed yourself too. A healthy breakfast leaves you satisfied and keeps you energetic through most part of the day.
- Fluctuating blood sugar levels isn’t a healthy sign. Eating every two hours is essential to counter that. Much on small, healthy snacks between meals to keep you fit throughout the day.
- A change of clothes can actually make you feel like a new person! Change your daywear at least once during the day and feel the difference.
- Try and get some more sleep. Switch off the TV, keep your cell phone away and crash in bed an hour earlier than you usually do. Continue this for a week and notice the difference yourself!
- Sometimes, be a child with your kids! Abandon all deadlines and timetables to play with them. It is absolute fun plus you will see a noticeable boost in your energy levels.
- Think of ideas for quick and simple yet nutritious snacks that look and taste tempting enough for your kids and you to relish. If your kids join you in the task, even better!
