Understanding Your Hair & Treating It Accordingly
For most of hair is our crowning glory. Condition of the hair speaks volumes about the person’s physical and mental condition. The major reasons that add towards hair damage are pollution, extreme weather changes, stress and excessive usage of harsh chemical products. Other reasons could be genetics, poor blood circulation and certain lifestyle choices.
So let’s make our hair beautiful again with these 3 simple steps. However, please note that for the hair to be healthy and beautiful again; please allow 2 to 3 months of using the masks given below.
Step 1 – Understanding the hair type
It is imperative that before searching for the solution, we need to understand the problem. We must understand what category your hair fits…
Dry: looks dull, has split ends, damages easily, breaks easily.
Oily: becomes greasy if not washed daily, loses its shine
Combination: oily at the roots, but dry and damaged towards the ends.
Normal: doesn’t have many problems, usually looks shiny. This type may not need a hair mask.
Step 2 – Basic Dos & Don’ts
Don’t comb your hair when they’re wet as wet hair is quite delicate and fragile.
Use a wide-toothed comb to untangle your hair instead of a hair brush.
Wash your hair at least 2-3 times in a week.
Avoid using blow dryers, hair straightening & styling products like gels, mousse and sprays as far as possible.
Including a balanced amount of protein in daily meals help in good hair; Example: plain yoghurt, fresh vegetables, eggs and gooseberry (amla) in your diet.
Step 3 – Home Made Hair Masks
These can be used 2 to 3 times a month, which will result in shiny and healthy hair that you have always dreamed about.
Dry Hair Mask
Ingredients: 3 eggs, 1 teaspoon of vinegar and 2 tablespoons of olive oil.
Mix thoroughly to get a thick paste like material; apply this to your hair and cover the hair for about half-an-hour with a plastic cap. Wash out with a mild shampoo and water. This gives healthy moisture content and a lively shine to your dry hair.
Oily Hair Mask
Ingredients: 1 tablespoon of lemon juice & 1 teaspoon of aloe Vera gel.
Mix thoroughly with a small amount of tepid water to get a smooth paste; apply this to the hair and leave it on for half-an-hour and rinse it completely with tepid water. Kindly ensure that all residue of the mask is washed off completely. This removes the extra oil build-up of the hair.
