OMG!! Dirty secrets of a Mother-in-Law leaked!!!

Indian mothers (especially) are known to be much involved (too involved in most cases) with their son’s lives notably after his marriage. Their passive aggressive behaviour may stem from the cultural conditioning that “son will remain under my control till death does us part” or “since my MIL tormented me, I shall do the same when I become a MIL and the parampara shall continue”…

So just in case you are a MIL and want to make sure that you screw up your relationship with your Daughter-in-Law and make her life a living hell, these are few pointers for you…

Make sure you insert yourself in their every dialogue and pour in your 2 paisa comments whether or not it is warranted.

Their privacy is a big time No-No! How dare your son and his wife try to have a private moment to them? Just go in their room and plant yourself there till eternity happens.

You must insist that your DIL cooks and while she is doing it stand behind her neck and tell her how you used to cook it and what she needs to do. This must happen even if she knows how to cook the said dish. Also when you are doing this, you must stand so close that you are literally breathing down her neck.

No matter what she wears, tell her that it is not looking good and she could have worn something else.

On an off chance that your son and his wife are trying to go out for a dinner or lunch, you must pull the longest face possible and ask them 20 million times when they are going out and how long they will be out for. OH yes… and if they are going out for an entire day then you should at all cost pretend to be ill since that morning… the underlined statement is they should not go out without you. PERIOD!

As a Mother-in-law, it is your primary responsibility to make your daughter-in-law’s life a hot mess. In case you follow these, you are sure to bother her to the core and continue the trend of showering her with mental atrocities.
