Now that everything is in order, you can relax! Right!? WRONG!!! Now is the time when the fear of the unknown kicks in. Am I sending my kid away too soon? What if she needs me in those 2 hours? What if she is not ready? Will the teacher provide enough attention to her? Such questions haunt us and cause sleepless nights!

We at ItemMom thought to let you in on things that some parents did on their kid’s first day of away from them;

Anjali & Anirban Majumdar (Mumbai), parents to a lovely toddler, dropped the kid off at her preschool, waited for 15 minutes outside then went over to the nearest McDonalds. After spending a nail biting one and half hours, they returned even before the school was out and continued peeking through the window to check if their daughter was doing fine;

Deepta & Ravi Verma (Lucknow), parents to an awesome tween, never left the premises for the first day! They had parked themselves in their vehicle, while Ravi kept on looking at his watch the entire time and waiting for the main gate to open so that he can rush to pick up his baby girl. All this while, Deepta maintained her cool by listing to music in her car and patiently waiting.

Our very own co-founders of this website, Srushti & Mandar Rao (Mumbai), parents to a scrapping young man of 5, took a day off work so as to be there 100% for the kid’s special day! With tears in her eyes, they paced the entire time outside the school and picked the baby up in an hour itself.

Supermom Shomi Pandey (Patna), mother of a beautiful tween, had nerves of steel. Even though touched by anxiousness, she chose to get back to her to-do list of work after dropping her little girl off to her day care and waited patiently for the school to end, so that she can go and pick up the little cupcake.

So as you can see, every parent reacts in a different way in dealing with separation anxiety. Even though you may feel weird about it later, don’t worry, you are not alone in this turmoil, other parents will agree with you whole heartedly!
