Encouragement — what a child needs!

We all want the best for our kids. It is crucial for a child’s intrinsic intellectual and social growth that you believe in her through thick and thin; and she needs to see the support.

Positive reinforcements (like kind words, rewards system, showing enthusiasm towards her interests and fascinations, encouraging her to speak her mind and feelings) are imperative for a healthy self-esteem of the child. Also certain small gestures like a hug; a pat on the back or a thumbs-up goes a long way.

Following are a list of 10 commonly used words/phrases by parents, teachers, relatives or older siblings that help in forging the child’s positive outlook towards the world.

  • You are awesome
  • I’m so proud of you
  • You have such creative ideas
  • I like how you think
  • Good job
  • You did it
  • Atta Boy
  • Fantastic work
  • I know that must been hard but you stayed calm!
  • And most importantly — I love you

The idea is that the child should understand that she/he is good enough for you and you are proud of having her/him in your life!
